Just a few yards south of the Cape Charles traffic light on U.S. Route 13 and 10 miles north of the famous and wonderful Chesapeake Bay Bridge-tunnel, there is a grove of tall stately lob-lolly pines that whisper with the Bay breezes and shelter this small motor lodge.Built in the 1950's and lovingly cared for and maintained ever since by the same owner-manager, the Rittenhouse is indeed a very pleasant place to stay. (A representative of the Diner's Club says this is probably the oldest establishment under the same management in all of Diner's Club.) The owner considers this some sort of distinction. A pleasant, park-like setting of azaleas, camellias, wood fern and dogwood surround this small hostelry. If serenity and quiet were ever captured, here is what it would be like. ![]() Rittenhouse Motor Lodge reaches out into the quiet and just reposes there. (Ah...the poetry of it all!!)
OPEN YEAR ROUND, the Lodge is within walking distance of a restaurant/bar and just acouple miles from Cape Charles, with its beach, churches, shopping and nice people. ![]()
